Mary McKenna Diamond Trophy Team in Sparkling Form
All Ireland Final date for the Mary McKenna Diamond Trophy Team
The Mary McKenna team completed their quest to reach the All Ireland Finals in Woodenbridge on 7th September. Having won all five matches in their home leg, the team went out to Skerries on Thursday 15th August and brought in the last point in great style. The race to bring home the winning match was won by Ger Simpson and Ann Hughes who closed out their match on the 12th hole. All the other matches were going well but I’m sure it gave their Manager, Nuala Le Gros, great pleasure to call all the remaining matches in early.
Nuala le Gros accepted the winning Leinster pennant on behalf of Newlands from the Vice Captain of Woodenbridge. Nuala presented the pennant to Captain Marie and it was with great excitement that we brought the pennant back to Newlands.
So now we head off to Woodenbridge GC on the weekend of 7th and 8th September for the All Ireland finals. The semi final matches will commence at 10.00 a.m. and 11.00 a.m. on Saturday 7th, with the final and 3rd/4th place play-off to take place on Sunday 8th September.
Many thanks to the managers, Nuala LeGros and Mary K. O’Mahony, well done to you both. Well done to all the team, Patricia Heffernan and Denise Tobin, Ger Simpson and Ann Hughes, Carol Kiely and Captain Marie Harpur, Bernie Keppel and Helen Conway, Anne Croft and Marie Fitzgerald, subs Pat O’Leary and Madge Deane. As always our great army of supporters were there at every hole, your support is very much appreciated.
A great team of us!
