So this is Christmas…. Jumpers!

A super day had by all on our annual Christmas Jumper Day competition which is going from strength to strength.

We had 28 teams playing on a magical December day – storms raged around us but missed us here in Newlands and we were blessed with the most amazing weather.  Not a breeze to hinder the wonderful golf and the sun even made an appearance.  The Naas Food Bank are extremely grateful for our contribution of the non-perishable food which we have been collecting over the last two weeks.  We also collected a record cash figure of €1810 which was handed over to Maud Nolan on behalf of the Naas Food Bank.  Many thanks to you all for your contribution and your time on the day – we had great fun and we hope you all enjoyed the day.

The Winning teams were:

Front 9:      45 pts (L6)

Ciaran Curtis, Louise Murphy, Conor Faughnan & Brendan O’Brien

Back 9:       46 pts

Ann Hughes, Michael Brennan, Deborah McCready & President Sean McEvoy

Thank you to Gerry and his team on the course, dealing with the heavy rain and making sure we got out to play the golf.  Thanks also to Tracey and her team at Bliss for looking after so many all at the same time.

A super day… well done to all.  By the way, next year there will be more ‘nominated’ bunkers !

Many thanks,

Ladies Committee

Eva Coghlan wins Newlands Girls’ Open

Newlands annual Girls’ Trohpy Open.was held on Friday 17 August. This is the 25th year anniversary of the presentation of this trophy to the Junior Section in Newlands by Christy Green. It was particularly good, therefore, on this 25th anniversary that our own Eva Coghlan won the day with a fantastic score of 43 pts, playing off a handicap of 11. What a score! It was a brilliant day despite the weather. Thirteen golf clubs were represented in the competition. We are grateful yet again for the generous sponsorship of Prendergast Construction.

Congratulations to Vice Captain Pam on her Hole in One

Congratulations to Vice Captain Pam who had a hole in one on the fourth on Saturday 18th November.  It’s just reward for the hours of practice put in by Pam over the last few weeks as she delivered the ultimate shot in golf and recorded her first hole in one.

As she gears up for the exciting year ahead, it’s good to know that the golf is in good shape, and her putting hasn’t even been tested yet.  Time to return Captain Siobhan’s putting aid!!   Well done Pam.  #PowerfulStrike  #Power2Pam

Kate Nolan (Junior) Wins Hugh Boyle Trophy with Fantastic Score of 55 pts

Kate Nolan was the overall winner on Thursday 3 August in the Hugh Boyle Trophy with a fantastic score of 55 pts off handicap of 36.   This was an exceptional achievement especially as it was a mixed Junior event with nearly 40 entrants in the competition.  Kate, who turned 14 on the same day, has lost 9 shots as a result of her exceptional score.  #CelebrationsAllRound

Ladies Intermediate Cup Quarter Final

Commiserations to the Ladies Intermediate Cup team who lost the Regional Quarter Final to Kileen Castle in Milltown GC on Sunday 9 July.

Manager Fionnuala Croskery would like to thank the team for all their time and effort, thank the caddies, and all the wonderful supporters.  Unfortunately the golfing gods weren’t with us on Sunday – close matches, bravely fought.
