Dawn Chorus @ Newlands 2012

On May 12th a very keen happy group of members met in the car park of Newlands at around 4.15 am for a guided walk around our course led by Niall Hatch of Birdwatch Ireland. This was our second annual gathering to enjoy the 'Dawn Chorus'. Again this year Niall Hatch made this event as interesting, informative and entertaing as ever. His obvious labour of love, as he fed us a feast of knowledge, was a delight. His ear cocked itwas here a blackbird, there a pidgeon here a tree climber, and on we went as we enjoyed a veritable encyclopedia of bird song. Not just bird names but detail galore of their lives and habits.

Our sincere thanks to Niall for his time and wonderful entertaining leadership of what must now become an annual event in the club diary.
