Joan Sheridan wins City Matchplay Finals

The City Matchplay Championship commenced last August and matches were played throughout the

winter at Castle Golf Club. Over 100 players from more than 50 golf clubs entered the competition.

Throughout the championships competitors were highly complementary about the condition of the Golf

course and of the facilities and service at Castle Golf Club.

The City Matchplay Championships concluded last Sunday at Castle with finals in both the men’s and

ladies sections:

David McNamara (Stackstown) Beat Michael Curran (Tulfarris) on the 19

Joan Sheridan (Newlands) Beat Amy Jones (Castle) 1 Up.

It is expected that these championships will be even bigger next year and into the future as there is

already huge interest from golfers wishing to enter the 2012/2013 version of the championships.

Men’s Championship open to men with a handicap of 18-or-under.

Ladies Championship open to ladies with a handicap of 28-or-under.

Entry just €55 to cover competition fee and green fees for the entire tournament.

First round will be played in August and subsequent rounds per draw

through the following months to a final in April.
